AEL Bills Introduced!
This afternoon, the House and Senate introduced mirror bills to address the Aggregate Expenditure Limit. SCR 1050 and HCR 2039 authorize school districts to spend local revenues that exceed the Aggregate Expenditure Limit (totaling $1.2B) in FY21-22. In order to pass, these bills need to be approved by a 2/3 vote in each chamber before March 1. ASBA is very relieved to see these bills introduced, and we thank Representatives Bowers and Bolding and Senators Fann and Rios for their bipartisanship leadership and sponsorship of these bills.
Education Committee Tomorrow
Barring any special permission, tomorrow is the last day for House bills to be heard in House Education and Senate bills in Senate Education. By next week, we’ll have a much shorter list of bills to track on our end as many will die not having received a committee hearing. Preview the agendas below and view our whole list of bills to watch here.
