As always, keep up with the list of bills we are tracking on BillTrack 50
House: Hope You Had a Nice Weekend, See You Thursday
The House reconvened this afternoon after last meeting on Wednesday of last week. After passing a few bills, none K-12 related, they adjourned until Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
However, Rep. Kaiser did make a motion to extend the window for reconsideration of SB1211 materials; activities; review; posting; schools for another 14 days. The motion carried. Previously, SB1211 failed the House by one vote on April 18. A motion to reconsider was made, but supporters have not been able to secure the necessary votes.
Senate: See you Tomorrow
The Senate also had no K-12 related business today, but has some committee work to do, so Senators will reconvene tomorrow at 10. a.m. Senate Education Committee has a meeting tomorrow at 1 p.m. to consider executive nominations for the State Board for Charter Schools, State Board of Education, Arizona Board of Regents, and School Facilities Oversight Board. See the agenda here.
Can You Read This? Thank a Teacher
This week is teacher appreciation week, and here at ASBA we are big fans of teachers. Our colleagues over at the Friends of ASBA have created a cool tool that will let you create your own thank you note to an important teacher to either post on social media or download and send to them directly. Please make use of this tool and use the hashtag #ThankATeacher and spread the appreciation around! Also, take a moment to check out this piece from ASU Teacher’s College Dean Dr. Carole Basile on what we can do for teachers year-round.
