Legislature Honors Allister Adel
Before beginning business today, both the House and Senate read and adopted resolutions honoring the life of late Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel, who died unexpectedly at the age of 45 last month. We at ASBA also extend our condolences to her family and friends.
What Happens on Telegram Does Not Stay on Telegram
The AZ Senate reconvened for the week this afternoon and was promptly thrown into a debate over what to do about the latest comments from Republican Sen. Wendy Rogers. Rogers posted some comments on the social media site Telegram regarding this weekend’s racially-motivated violence in Buffalo, NY and which Democrats believed warranted expulsion from the Senate. What followed was a couple hours of debate and voting on two motions. In the end, Rogers was referred to the ethics committee for investigation but was not expelled.
