Nothing (Much) to See Here
With light work and what appeared to be a struggle to assemble and maintain Republican majorities to pass bills that are opposed by Democrats, both the House and Senate have called it quits for the week. The House adjourned yesterday until Monday, and the Senate followed suit shortly after reconvening this morning to pass a couple of non-controversial bills. After being passed by the Senate this morning, the following bills are headed to Gov. Ducey’s desk:
HB 2352 school facilities board; continuation (Udall)—extends the board until 2025
HB2565 ASDB; revisions (Udall)—makes a number of process revisions related to pupil placement requested by the agency
HB 2672 common school districts; unification; budget (Osborne)—allows one final year of an alternative budget calculation for the Nadaburg USD until its high school opens
The Law is No Longer Silent on Silence
The governor has signed HB 2707 public schools; moment of silence (A. Hernandez) into law. The bill requires a moment of silence of between one and two minutes at the beginning of each school day. It will become effective on the general effective date.
