Better Luck Next Week
The Legislature adjourned for the week yesterday afternoon. Rumors of budget spreadsheets circulating at the capitol abound, but no actual documents have been forthcoming. In any event, the required votes do not appear to be secured, whether a plan exists or not. There looks to be some continued disquiet in the ranks of the Republican caucus on both sides of the mall, and if this week’s floor sessions are any indication, goodwill between Democratic and Republican leadership also took a bit of a hit,

Two Bills Stalled This Week
Two education-related bills were scheduled for further action this week but were held up for various reasons.
SB1630 school buses; student transportation; vehicles (Kerr) was held up yet again as floor action delayed its conference committee. It will likely be scheduled for next week.
SB 1326 schools; course equivalents (Shope) was scheduled for a final vote in the House but it was not taken, presumably due to lack of supportive votes on the floor.
