New Agenda, New Leadership!
Take a look at ASBA's 2026 Political Agenda and meet ASBA's new Director of Governmental Relations
Happy Friday! Earlier this week, ASBA finalized the amendments made during the Delegate Assembly to the 2026 Political Agenda. This member-driven document will guide our Governmental Relations team at the Capitol throughout the upcoming session. The 2026 Political Agenda reflects the voices of school board members from every corner of Arizona, including CTEDs, rural, urban, large, and small districts. Through a member-driven process, proposals were first reviewed by the Legislative Committee in June, then finalized with delegate amendments in September. The result is a set of legislative priorities that capture the diverse perspectives of Arizona’s school leaders and will guide ASBA’s advocacy in the year ahead. We’re also excited to introduce our new Director of Governmental Relations, who will help lead this important work at the Capitol. Read on to learn more about him!

ASBA Welcomes Jimmy Arwood as Director of Governmental Relations
ASBA is pleased to welcome Jimmy Arwood as our new Director of Governmental Relations. Jimmy brings a wealth of legislative and policy experience, most recently serving as Deputy Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs at the Arizona Department of Administration, where he acted as chief lobbyist and strategist. He also served as Public Information Officer and Constituent Services Manager at the Arizona Department of Education. Recognized by the Arizona Capitol Times as a “Breakout Political Professional,” Jimmy is a proven advocate with strong relationships at the Capitol and across Arizona. We look forward to his leadership in advancing ASBA’s mission on behalf of public-school students and communities.
